Yodel Transport launches with the help of Ast Signs
Leading vehicle graphics supplier Ast Signs Ltd has continued its work with Yodel, supplying the graphics for 107 new Double Deck trailers.
Yodel, the UK’s second-largest parcel carrier, has announced the creation of Yodel Transport Ltd and is growing its capabilities fast.
“This is a really exciting time for Yodel,” said Yodel Transport’s Managing Director Jamie Stephenson.
He continued: “The new standalone business enables us to optimise our operation and deliver efficiencies in design and execution.
“We are making significant investments in new trailers and a state-of-the-art Control Tower, which is near completion, to support the effective management of network operations. We will have one of the largest transport fleets in the UK.”
Yodel Transport has ordered the new Double Deck trailers with lifting decks from manufacturers Don-Bur. The first ones will arrive in early June. This new order comes on top of the 100 replacement aero-dynamic, single deck trailers Yodel purchased in November 2010, which also had graphics supplied by Ast Signs.
Mark Aston, Ast Signs’ Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Yodel during this exciting time for their business. More and more fleets are recognising the many benefits of wrapping their vehicles – from branding advantages to increasing the vehicle’s residual value.”
Last summer Ast Signs fully wrapped 400 brand new white Mercedes Sprinter vans in Yodel’s distinctive new colours. These vehicle wraps provided the UK’s second largest parcel delivery business with the operational and financial benefits that go hand-in-hand with vehicle wrapping. Vehicle wraps last between four and ten years and offer excellent branding opportunities, improved residual values and paintwork protection. As wraps can be completed in one day and removed in a few hours at the end of the life or lease of the vehicle, they minimise vehicle downtime and time off the road. In the event of accident damage, a panel can be replaced rather than having to re-wrap the entire vehicle.
Yodel Transport was formed to bring together the company’s considerable driver base following the acquisition of the domestic B2B and B2C businesses of DHL Express (UK) Ltd into one transport unit with a specialist leadership team.
Jonathan Smith, Yodel CEO, said: “The investment in Yodel Transport, including the new Double Deck trailers are a statement of our ambitions. We are on a journey to make Yodel best-in-class, offering our customers the broadest range of services to suit their parcel delivery demands.”
