Kingstown United FC U7's finish off coast to coast cycle with their dads.
Date: 11-07-2011Ben Livingstone, Will Morrey and Peter Gower all aged seven joined their dads along with Charlotte Gower to cycle the last 11 miles of a coast to coast on Saturday 2 July. They finished in Tynemouth when they all jumped into the sea! Their dads Gareth Livingstone, Brian Morrey and Peter Gower all started the coast to coast on Friday 1st July from Whitehaven and completed the 137 mile cycle in Tynemouth in just two days. Gareth works here at Ast Signs and decided to cycle the coast to coast to raise some money for the football team that he helps to run, Kingstown United FC in Carlisle. They are hoping to raise over £800.00 and they plan to split it between the football club and Eden House children's hospice, Carlisle. “We all enjoyed the cycle, it was hard going some of the time with the heat. When we finished it was a great sense of achievement.” said Gareth. Although Kingstown FC is not a charity it is run by volunteers and they do a great job with the football teams and local children helping them to find a hobby that they enjoy. All are welcome to go along and train with them. Ben, Will and Peter all play for the under 7’s team. Kingstown United FC has teams ranging from under 7’s through to under 16 levels. The under 7’s have had a very successful season with some impressive results. They recently enjoyed their end of season presentation evening where they were all presented with a player of the season award.
“They are a great group of boys who all train very hard and have fun playing matches each week, we have some promising young players.” Said Gareth who coaches the under 7’s team.
Ast Signs provide sponsorship for the team and will be supporting two teams when the 2011/2012 season kicks off in August.
Gareth, Brian and Peter all did very well in completing the coast to coast cycle.
On Saturday 9 July Kingstown United U7’s competed in a tournament at Calthwaite, they won three matches and lost one.
“They are a great group of boys who all train very hard and have fun playing matches each week, we have some promising young players.” Said Gareth who coaches the under 7’s team.
