Aston plans to make most of home advantage
Date: 23-06-2009AstSigns karter Nathan Aston will be hoping to make the most of home advantage as he tackles the latest round of the Formula Kart Stars championship at the Rowrah circuit in his native Cumbria.
The 11-year-old from Penrith is on a steep learning curve in his first season in the Formula Kart Stars championship, a competition that aims to launch new British motorsport talent into the limelight, and after three rounds he is excited to have the chance to race at his home circuit.
He is currently ranked inside the top 30 of the highly competitive national competition and will be looking to make yet more progress this weekend after reaching the A-Final in Glan-Y-Gors last time out.
Earlier this month he warmed up for the FKS event by taking part in round four of the Cumbria KRC Club Championship at Rowrah. Some highly impressive performances in his heats, including a six-place gain in his third race of the meeting, where he finished in an impressive fourth place overall gave him the perfect preparation for this weekend’s competition.
With over 70 competitors registered for the FKS series, Aston knows that he will be up against some stiff competition but is hoping that he can make home advantage pay to produce his best result yet in the series.

“I am really looking forward to competing at Rowrah. It’s my home circuit so I have a lot of experience there which will help with the set-up of the kart. It was good to race there in the Cumbria KRC meeting recently as it means I’ve got a really good feel for the place. The Formula Kart Stars championship has been a really good learning experience for me so far and I am looking forward to another exciting weekend of karting. I hope that my knowledge of the track pays off and I can produce a really good result.”
